Travelers passing through Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport encounter a striking visual landmark suspended between terminal levels — a sweeping, curved LED installation known as the Oculus. Spanning roughly 220 feet, the structure serves as both architectural centerpiece and digital storytelling canvas, welcoming millions of passengers each year with cinematic content inspired by Houston’s culture, landscape, and identity.

The installation emerged from close collaboration between integrator Ford AV and creative studio Gentilhomme, whose artistic direction transformed the structure into an immersive media environment rather than a conventional display system. Built from custom curved LED technology manufactured by Nanolumens and powered by PIXERA media servers, the Oculus required a sophisticated technical ecosystem capable of delivering seamless visuals across its complex geometry while maintaining the reliability expected of critical airport infrastructure.

Working alongside project partners, the company deployed its ISAAC platform to manage scheduling, monitoring, and operational control of the multi-server playback environment. Through ISAAC, operators also gain centralized insight into system health and performance, allowing issues to be identified and addressed before they affect the passenger experience.
